Welcome to the Community Hero's Camp

Community Heroes Running Camp
In an effort to raise awareness and bring more attention to the sport of running in the surrounding counties of Daviess County, Indiana, the local coaches are teaming up to form the Community Heroes Running Camp.
Counties expected to be reached by the Camp are; Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Knox, Martin, Pike, and their surrounding cities.  The primary focus of the proceeds from the camp will remain among these six counties.

Camp Director, Miles Krieger and his wife Allie moved back to her hometown of Plainville, Indiana, in Daviess County in the fall of 2013, and quickly realized the need to put more of an emphasis on the sport which propelled them to running careers in college.   A former College Track and Field and Cross Country Coach, Krieger had hosted his own camp for many years while coaching at Southeast Missouri State, and had hoped to do the same at some point in his new hometown.  Currently, Miles Krieger is one of the ladies Cross Country and Track & Field coach at Barr Reeve High School, in Montgomery, Indiana.

In the Fall of 2014, the idea of putting a camp that would benefit the local runners and raise awareness of the benefits of running began to resonate in Miles Krieger’s mind and with a quick conversation with several of his coaching peers at the competing high schools throughout the surrounding counties, the camp was formed.
The proceeds of the camp will go to help start a scholarship fund for a standout Male and Female runner within the surround counties of the camp that excels in the classroom and on the course.  Additional proceeds will go to the future of the camp and to provide support in areas needed within the region.

Who Can Attend?
The camp will be open to Middle School and High School students that are looking to learn more about their sport, while gaining fitness training with their peers and competitors.

The Staff-
The camp will be staffed by coaches from the surrounding high schools and their former athletes.  The main objective would be to illustrate to the attendees the good that has already been done by runners from each school as well as allowing the coaches the chance to develop a report with athletes from the region.
